Position Summary:

Direct, schedule, and control all plant engineering/maintenance functions to optimize efficiencies of equipment, utilities, and facilities. Ensure safety, quality, reliability (SQR), and customer satisfaction by performing duties safely, efficiently, and accurately. Provide leadership aligned with Kroger Manufacturing's High Performance Work System principles, demonstrating core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Qualifications:

Desired Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering
  • 6+ years in the food industry with experience in capital projects, maintenance, workforce management, budgeting, and regulations

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with relevant experience
  • 5+ years of technical experience in the food industry
  • Knowledge of Food Safety Principles, GMP, EPA, OSHA requirements
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and strategic thinking
  • Proven leadership and relationship-building skills

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide engineering leadership at the plant level
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate direct reports
  • Develop and manage the plant's 3-year capital plan and budgets
  • Recommend and oversee equipment modifications and system updates
  • Stay current on technology related to plant operations
  • Maintain engineering records and documentation
  • Drive maintenance processes, including predictive and preventive programs
  • Manage training, performance, and development of maintenance and engineering staff
  • Lead energy management initiatives
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA
  • Support food safety and quality systems, including SQF 2000
