The IDEA Manager is responsible for driving OSF's commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) by promoting a culture of belonging within the organization and providing exceptional service to patrons and employees with access needs. This role combines community-building, education, and customer service to support OSF's values and ensure an equitable, inclusive, and accessible experience for all.
Organizational Background
The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) was founded in 1935 in Ashland, OR, and has grown from a three-day festival of two plays to a nationally renowned theatre arts organization that presents a rotating repertory season of up to 10 plays and musicals, including illuminating interpretations of Shakespeare, other enduring classics, and new works. OSF productions have been presented on Broadway, internationally, and at regional, community, and high school theatres across the country. OSF received the 1983 Special Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre and is one of the largest nonprofit theatres in the nation with three stages, including an outdoor Allen Elizabethan Theatre.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
- Develop and deliver engaging IDEA-related training programs for OSF.
- Collaborate with leadership to implement and assess strategies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all areas of the organization.
- Serve as a resource for employees to address IDEA-related concerns and provide guidance on fostering an inclusive workplace.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of IDEA best practices and trends to inform OSF's initiatives.
Accessibility
- Provide excellent customer service to patrons and employees with access needs, including but not limited to individuals with visible and non-visible disabilities.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure venues and performances are accessible, including seating arrangements, assistive listening devices, captioning, and other accommodations.
- Manage all aspects of Accessibility, Captioning, Audio Describing, Listening Devices, Interpreting Services which includes daily performances and ASL+ weekends.
- Hiring, training, evaluating and scheduling Access teams.
- Troubleshooting and updating all equipment.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for accessibility-related inquiries, offering personalized solutions and guidance to patrons.
- Collaborate with Box Office and Front of House Staff.
- Conduct regular assessments of accessibility offerings and identify areas for improvement.
- Feedback on CO and AD scripts & performance to Access team.
- Educate staff and volunteers on accessibility best practices and legal requirements, such as ADA compliance.
General Coordination
- Support the development of IDEA-related policies, procedures, and communications.
- Track and report on metrics related to IDEA initiatives to measure progress and identify opportunities for growth.
- Assist in the planning and execution of IDEA events, workshops, and programs.
- Foster relationships with community organizations to enhance OSF's IDEA efforts.
- Collaborate with Marketing to provide Access PR to targeted populations.
- Seek grant acquisition for Access services growth.
- Budgeting for staffing, training, equipment and safety needs of the department.
Supervision Received: Managing Director of IDEA People, Culture & Operations
Supervision Exercised: On site Access team; visiting ASL and training teams
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., social work, organizational development, education, Accessibility) or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in DEI programming, accessibility coordination, or a related field.
Other Skills, Ability and/or Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of IDEA principles, practices, and legal frameworks (e.g., ADA).
- Strong facilitation and training skills, with experience in developing IDEA-related content.
- Training for Caption Operators and Audio Describers.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong initiative and self-starter with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proven experience collaborating across departments and/or divisions at a large, complex organization.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Professional experience with diverse ability communities: Deaf/Hard of Hearing; Blind/Low Vision; Neurodiversity; Mobility
- Experience in theatre, preferably repertory model.
