The Patient Services Representative (PSR) provides excellent customer service while supporting essential administrative functions of the clinic. This role manages the front desk reception and check-in process, maintains accurate patient information in electronic health records, verifies insurance coverage, schedules appointments, fields billing questions, and ensures smooth clinic operations. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and competence with healthcare information systems is required. The Patient Services Representative promotes a welcoming, efficient, and positive experience for all patients and staff.

Accountabilities Include:

School-Based Health Center Responsibilities

  • Open and close SBHC daily and maintain an organized, welcoming environment.
  • Greet students, verify appointments in EHR system, collect forms, and support clinical workflow.
  • Ensure accurate documentation for grants, regulatory and reimbursement requirements.
  • Coordinate with school staff, parents, and community partners to address health needs and promote wellness initiatives.
  • Participate in after school activities, fostering a healthy school environment.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of school district policies, youth health resources, and SBHC offerings.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with diverse patients and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to supporting student health and well-being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Proficient with computers, tablets, and mobile devices. Experience with electronic health record and practice management software a plus.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, equitable care and service to all patients.
  • Skilled at managing conflict and diffusing challenging situations calmly and respectfully.
  • Cross-Training & Flexibility: This position requires cross-training in various health services and the ability to work in multiple schools across different SBHC districts as needed. The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility and a collaborative spirit, contributing to the overall success and smooth operation of the health services within diverse school environments.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred. Any bilingual new hires will be eligible to participate in our $1/hour bilingual differential program (after successfully completing training and a language test).
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year experience in busy, fast-paced office environment
