We are currently seeking a dedicated and highly capableBilingual Front Desk Receptionistwho is ready to be the welcoming face—and sometimes the firm backbone—of our agency. You'll be the first point of contact for our clients, many of whom are navigating vulnerable moments. Compassion is critical—but so is courage. This role is not for the faint of heart.

About the Role

As theFront Desk Receptionist, you are the “gatekeeper” to HAJC services, responsible for welcoming walk-ins, answering and directing multi-line phone calls, and guiding clients through applications and services. You will help distribute forms, troubleshoot common questions, support multiple departments, and serve as the central hub of day-to-day client engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist walk-in visitors and callers in both English and Spanish.

  • Provide general program information, applications, and referrals.

  • Manage the front lobby and maintain a professional, welcoming space.

  • Distribute maintenance requests and incoming mail.

  • Respond to sensitive or emotionally charged inquiries with tact and clarity.

  • Professionally manage and de-escalate occasionally hostile or frustrated individuals without becoming reactive.

This role requires:

✔ Ability to calmly set and enforce professional boundaries
✔ Confidence to confront inappropriate behavior respectfully
✔ Strong multitasking and organizational capabilities
✔ Competency in standard software applications and phone systems

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • At least2 years of clerical or customer-facing experiencein a fast-paced setting

  • Proficiency inboth English and Spanish (written and verbal)

  • Familiarity with modern office software, phone systems, and multi-tasking tools

  • Ability to remain composed and non-reactive in emotionally charged interactions
