Job Description
  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to determine project scope.
  • Conduct site visits to gather relevant data about project conditions and constraints.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and overhead.
  • Leverage historical data, industry benchmarks, and cost databases to improve accuracy.
  • Develop comprehensive bid proposals, including cost breakdowns and qualifications.
  • Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, architects, and other stakeholders to refine project requirements.
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
  • Identify potential risks to project budgets and propose effective mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain clear communication to align all stakeholders on cost assumptions and project goals.
  • Support proposal development and other estimating-related activities as needed.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and analytical estimator with experience in mechanical systems and construction projects. They bring both technical knowledge and strong communication skills, ensuring estimates are not only accurate but also aligned with client and project needs.

You bring:
  • 2-5 years of experience in mechanical estimating (plumbing/HVAC preferred).
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in cost forecasting.
  • A collaborative, team-focused mindset with a solutions-oriented approach.
