Position Summary for a Certified Histotechnician

Our Histology department processes a wide variety of specimens. In addition to routine histology we perform IHC and special stains. We recently brought on two Leica Bond automated IHC platforms. The Histotechnician should possess sound organizational skills that support accuracy & attention to detail under stressful, high-paced work conditions. Also, they should encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers & other departments and display collaborative effort to maximize efficiency in daily workflow. As a Histotechnician you will have the opportunity to perform all procedures required to prepare tissue specimens for histological diagnosis by the Pathologist.

Qualifications

Experience

• Hospital histology experience, preferred
• Immunohistochemistry experience, preferred

Education

• Associate degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or equivalent in education and/or experience required
• Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited Histological Technician program - OR - Exam Eligible (having education/experience demonstrating qualifications to take and successfully complete the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) Histotechnician exam) is required
• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, preferred

Licensure/Certifications

• HT: Histotechnician registered by Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is required within 6 months of hire

Position Summary for a Certified Histotechnologist

A histotechnologist performs all procedures required to prepare tissue specimens for histological diagnosis by pathologist.

Position Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution is required

Certification/Licensure

• Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited Histological Technician program - OR - Exam Eligible (having education/experience demonstrating qualifications to take and successfully complete the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) Histotechnician exam) is required
• HTL: Histotechnologist certification within 6 months of hire is required
