Description:

Rogue Community College welcomes applications for a full-time Network Administrator.

Designs, implements, and maintains the RCC network and server infrastructure, including physical, wireless, virtual networks/servers and cloud services; network security; data, user, security, and resource management; corporate-wide communications and collaboration platforms and application delivery, providing 99.9% uptime access for students, faculty, and staff.

This is a Full-time Classified, 40-hour-per-week (100%) position in the Information Technology Services department. Starting compensation is entry-level for Group 8 on the 2025-26 Classified Wage Schedule.

Qualifications & Additional Position Information

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education A Bachelors degree in IT Administration or related area is required.
  • Experience A minimum of three years recent employment in computer networks, data processing, or management information systems required; at least one of those years in a computer customer/user support position is required.

Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience organizing and coordinating a technical support function, and in the functional areas of a community college, is preferred. Related Microsoft, Aruba/HP, and network security certifications are preferred.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Core Competencies)
  • Knowledge Current Linux and Windows-based server and user operating systems, including all RCC-approved software applications; computer uses in community college administrative environment. Network hardware and software including wireless connectivity; computer and network security layer 2 and 3 networks; VLAN setup and administration; firewall configuration, investigation, and administration; Multi-Factor Authentication administration and training; Backup/DR administration. Support and training of end users.
  • Skills Strong organizational skills including re-prioritizing tasks. Skills in communicating effectively verbally and in writing; working cooperatively as a team member and collaborating with individuals from colleges technology areas. Skills in organizing, operating, and maintaining a customer-oriented service function.
  • Abilities Respond to functional area needs in developing the RCC IT infrastructure. Respond to network security threats/attacks, provide timely and courteous network repair, maintenance, and support. Work with other educational institutions and outside agencies to ensure proper connectivity and communication between the college and their sites and services. Multitask. Perform detailed work and maintain confidentiality of data and sensitive information. Pass a criminal background check and fitness for duty evaluation. Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

Other Requirements
  • For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Drivers License or the ability to obtain one within 30?days of employment, and maintenance of an acceptable driving record are required.

  • Manual dexterity and coordination are required for more than half of the daily work period (about 75%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10?key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials, 5 lbs. or less daily, and up to 40 lbs. occasionally. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate. Where appropriate, personal protective equipment will be issued and the employee will be trained in its proper application and use.
