Required Education and Experience:
* Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
* Must be 18 years of age; and

The anticipated hiring range for the Parking Garage/Parking Lot Maintenance Worker position is $18.36 (first step) to $19.28 or $20.24 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Three steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Essential Functions of the Position:
* Routine interior and exterior maintenance on parking garages and surface lots.
* Light maintenance including painting, minor repairs and pressure washing
* Performs limited landscape maintenance and irrigation repairs.
* Open and closes parking garage restrooms. Services parking garage restrooms to ensure they are clean and fully stocked.
* Performs related labor duties such as cleaning, picking up litter and debris, emptying trash, graffiti removal in parking lots and parking garages.
* May also clear walkways, rake leaves, remove snow, or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
* Work is sometimes performed in right-of-way areas.
* Performs a variety of minor routine building maintenance tasks; identifies and reports building maintenance needs.
* Adheres to safety practices and standards when performing all duties.
* Scope of assigned area will depend on departmental and/or citywide operational structure and is at the discretion of the Supervisor.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
The primary work environment is outdoors and within large structures, with exposure to weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold, while performing exterior maintenance, snow removal, and landscape work. In enclosed parking garages, employees are exposed to potential air quality issues from concentrated vehicle exhaust. When performing repairs involving painting/sanding, the employee is exposed to potential air quality issues. The employee operates within or adjacent to congested traffic areas and in the right-of-way, increasing the risk of accidents and noise exposure. The outdoor work environment includes walking on uneven terrain, pavement, curbs, and landscaping areas, and may interact with the public.
To successfully perform the full range of duties, this position requires extended periods of standing, walking, and manual labor. The employee must be able to crouch, bend, stoop, twist, turn, and balance while performing light maintenance, repairs, and cleaning tasks. The job involves heavy physical effort, including picking up litter/debris, emptying trash, and performing seasonal tasks such as snow removal and raking. The employee regularly operates hand and power tools for painting and minor repairs, requiring good eyesight, hearing, and dexterity. The employee must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and carry, push, or pull materials and equipment for all maintenance and landscaping duties.
