Salary Level: $20.00-$23.00 per hour based on experience

Summary:
Nestled in the heart of Ashland, Oregon, home to the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Southern Oregon University, and the celebrated Ashland Independent Film Festival, our 5-screen art house theater is a cultural hub for film lovers and community members alike. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated General Manager to lead our team and oversee daily operations, programming, and guest experience.
This full-time position typically runs Tuesday through Saturday, open to close, averaging 35-40 hours per week, with additional hours during peak seasons such as holidays and summer. The ideal candidate will be deeply immersed in the Ashland community, bringing strong leadership, a love for independent and mainstream cinema equally, and a commitment to fostering a welcoming and vibrant environment for our patrons.
The Theatre General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall performance and day-to-day operations of the theatre, ensuring a high standard of service, safety, and efficiency. The GM plays a key role in fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and community engagement within the theater. As a representative of Coming Attractions Theatres, Inc., the GM must be thoroughly knowledgeable of company policies and procedures and capable of implementing them effectively across all areas of the business. This role requires hands-on leadership, with the ability to personally perform and train others in every job function within the theater. The GM oversees customer service, food and beverage management, quality assurance of onscreen presentation, while maintaining a safe and welcoming work environment. They are also responsible for conducting performance management through coaching, counseling, and career development support.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintains high level of customer satisfaction to meet Coming Attractions Theatres standards
- Oversee operation and maintenance of theatre and equipment, and conduct safety inspections
- Supervises, schedules, evaluates, hires/terminates staff
- Schedules and conducts training and safety meetings
- Introduces and implements enforces company policy
- Supervises and trains Managers and Assistant Manager
- Supervises janitorial staff and conducts janitorial theatre inspections
- Makes accurate bank deposits and is responsible for petty cash funds
- Responsible for complete and accurate box office reports
- Make accurate and detailed incident/accident reports as necessary
- Responsible for advertising: trailers, banners, standees, marquee, checking website and phone recordings
- Responsible for concessions inventory control
- Clearly interfaces with Home Office in a timely manner
Additional Responsibilities - Responsible for other duties as assigned by Home Office and available to handle emergency situations at the theatre and on call twenty-four hours a day
Requirements - Must be at least 18 years of age (at least 21 years of age in theatres that serve alcohol)
- Offer of employment will be contingent upon the successful completion of a background check
- High School or G.E.D. graduate preferred
- Minimum of 3 years previous theatre management experience
- Completes basic food handling training and obtains any local or state mandated certifications, health card, or food handler permit where required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, which includes evenings, weekends and holidays.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements - Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills, in addition to good client/customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a team.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to perform basic math and cash handling duties.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have be self-motivated, organized, honest and reliable, dependable, a problem solver, be positive in customer and staff relations and have knowledge of computers; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Working Environment The work for this position is performed mainly inside the movie theatre and requires routine use of theater equipment, standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
The physical demands include:
- walking, reaching, standing, bending, twisting, and lifting items weighing no more than fifty pounds. The work is performed in a standing position for extended periods of time. Noise level may be moderate to high at times.
