Position Overview

We are looking for dedicated Asbestos Removal Technicians who will play a crucial role in the mitigation efforts for our clients. Ideal candidates should be skilled in asbestos removal and disposal, and will utilize a variety of specialized equipment under the guidance of experienced leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow directions and guidance from the Team Leader to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Understand and apply MSDS protocols for chemicals handled during mitigation tasks.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and maintain vehicles in clean, operational condition.
  • Pay close attention to detail throughout all operational tasks.
  • Comply with safety procedures and federal regulations governing waste disposal practices.
  • Record operational or environmental data as required.
  • Sort specialized hazardous waste at designated landfills or disposal centers, following established procedures.
  • Safely drive trucks or heavy equipment to transport contaminated waste to appropriate locations.
  • Handle loading and unloading of materials using hoists or forklifts in a safe manner.
  • Effectively clean mold-infested areas by removing and disposing of contaminated materials.
  • Decontaminate equipment and sites to eliminate hazardous substances.
  • Operate machinery for the removal, packaging, storage, or transportation of waste materials.
  • Prepare hazardous waste for processing or disposal properly.
  • Handle e-waste, including computer components that may contain harmful materials like lead or mercury.
  • Utilize appropriate cleaning and disinfecting solutions to clear debris from contaminated areas.
  • Under supervision, use proper lifting techniques and care to protect customer belongings.
  • Maintain BELFOR Standards while safeguarding clients' property.
  • Exhibit strong customer service principles and practices.
  • Work efficiently under time constraints to meet project timelines.
  • Be flexible with working hours, including potential night or weekend shifts and periodic travel.
  • Timely and accurately report time worked and resources utilized.
  • Participate in BELFOR-sponsored safety and operational training courses as necessary.

Requirements

  • Ability to construct containment areas prior to starting abatement or cleaning work.
  • Capable of assembling temporary structures or equipment.
  • Experience in removing asbestos or lead using hand or power tools.
  • Proficient in preparing hazardous materials for safe removal or storage.
  • Punctual maintenance of equipment used in daily tasks.
  • Additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to identify products and understand their usage and disposal requirements following training.
  • Must possess Asbestos Certification with a current Medical Card.
  • Current Lead Certification is required.
  • Must possess current Hazardous Waste Certification.
  • Eligible to operate a vehicle as per BELFOR's vehicle policy.
  • Exhibit a strong sense of urgency, professionalism, positive attitude, and a solid work ethic.
  • Fluent in the English language.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent lifting of over 50 lbs, with occasional lifting from 41 lbs+, assisted (up to 50% of the time).
  • Ability to access and maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling are required.
  • Competence with mobile devices for data collection and reporting.
