The Warehouse/Shipping Supervisor provides leadership and direction to ensure the effective management of people, processes, and utilization of resources. Responsible for inventory management of all products and for overseeing operations of the warehouse and shipping processes. Acts additionally as primary coverage/backup for Shift Supervision, Scheduling, and Safety as needed. Manages, mentors, and develops associates in a cohesive can-do team atmosphere. Ensures that our customers receive our product on time every time and always in world class condition.
Major tasks include supervising warehouse/shipping employees and overseeing daily operations, responsible for the performance of general maintenance of machinery used in the warehouse, communicating with drivers to ensure efficient transfer of products in and out of the warehouse to truck and/or rail, managing workflow within shipping and receiving departments, overseeing data system for storage and tracking of incoming goods and outgoing shipments, ensuring the appropriate audits and inspections are performed so that warehouse locations are operating in compliance with performance expectations, establishing layout and ensuring efficient space utilization of the warehouse, overseeing fork truck fleet management to support deliveries, maintaining standards of health and safety, hygiene and security, managing warehouse KPI's, producing reports and analyzing data, covering scheduling responsibilities as needed, which include organizing orders to create efficient schedule, ordering raw materials, monitoring production, order entry, etc., acting as primary backup to Safety Manager to ensure safety standards are followed, conducting training, completing reporting and investigations, as needed, and covering shift supervisory duties as emergency and vacation relief whenever needed.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree preferred, but not required, in logistics, business, finance, or related discipline. Additional experience may substitute for education. A minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing warehouse or production environment is required. Strong people leader and experienced in driving change. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment where leadership team must work closely with only minimal boundaries. Hands-on experience in warehouse management procedures and best practices. Strong decision making and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and analytical skills with ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and concerns quickly.
