The City of Medford is hiring multiple seasonal Public Works Laborers (6-month positions) to help maintain essential infrastructure across our community. Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 4/10 schedule (four 10-hour days with three days off each week)
The anticipated hiring range for the Public Works Laborer position is $25.26 (first step) to $26.52 or $27.85 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
This position requires work that includes exposure to regular inside and outside noise and distractions, lighting, and HVAC systems in relation to temperature. This environment also includes interactions with the public, contact with hot and cold temperatures and a large variety of potential health and safety exposures. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential job functions satisfactorily. This position involves extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, crouching, bending, stooping, twisting, turning, climbing and balancing, regular limb extension, pinching and grasping, moving, lifting and carrying objects that will require frequent force of 0 25 pounds, occasional 26 74 pounds and seldom exertion of 75 - 100 pounds of force, as well as regular keyboard typing, talking and listening both in person and over the phone, and driving a wide array of motorized vehicles in all conditions. Noise exposure and hot/cold environments may also need to be tolerated. Must have the ability to use computers, phones, and technology as needed.
