BENEFITSAccrue over 200 hours of PTO a year with rollover into next year.12 paid holidays a year.Outstanding medical, dental, and vision plans.County contributes 6% PERS retirement.Additional extras: Aflac, Voya, Corebridge options.SUMMARYProvide educational and program support for youth residing in the Turning Point Youth Residential Program.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvide an educational environment that supports the individual needs of the youth, including setting up and maintaining an inviting classroom workspace.Support the Juvenile Department and Grants Pass School District by providing youth attendance records, data entry, and record‑keeping as needed.Assist youth in accessing online credit education.Support the D7 on‑site highly qualified teacher in implementing students' educational plans, covering credits, class enrollment, and overall progress.Research, arrange, and supervise educational, vocational, and recreational outings for the youth at the program and in the community on a weekly basis.Build relationships with community partners to provide varied activities and resources, planning events, presentations, or volunteer activities for youth in the facility.Maintain the outings folder and backpack with insurance forms, waivers, risk assessments, and epi‑pens; ensure the facility cell phone, necessary food or equipment, and youth medications are packed before outings.Provide educational packets for youth to work on individually when outings are not possible.Create and keep a daily classroom schedule and an outings schedule posted where all youth can see; adhere to the daily schedule for school program hours.Plan arts, crafts, and hands‑on learning projects for all grade levels, requesting supplies from the supervisor as needed.Plan and lead youth in activities to enhance seasonal and holiday events throughout the year.Provide quarterly progress reports on youth in the educational program for all parties involved in case planning.Attend and participate in the Wellness Committee and help implement the Wellness Plan within the Turning Point program.Regularly plan and engage youth in physical education both on and off‑site, tracking equipment and notifying the supervisor of replacements.Attend monthly All Staff Meetings for all Juvenile Department Residential and Detention employees.Attend monthly meetings with the BRS Program Manager, D7 HQ Teacher, and Day Shift Lead to coordinate educational activities and scheduling, and provide monthly updates on progress from previous meetings.Communicate with GLC staff to provide discipline or behavior interventions in the classroom or on school outings as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in education or related field and a minimum of two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSFirst Aid/CPR Certification and Food Handlers License. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon Driver's License and a safe driving record. Complete personal protection training; these certificates must be obtained within the first six months of employment.BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONThose employed in this position are subject to drug testing and background investigation including criminal background investigation. Conviction of a crime may disqualify an individual for this position. Must pass and maintain Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) security clearance.
