Professional Services Consultant

Proofpoint is looking for a proactive, responsible, highly motivated Professional Services Consultant to join our team in leading implementations of Proofpoint solutions and maintaining technical relationships with our enterprise customers.

This role requires interaction with large-scale enterprises at senior levels, as well as with technical staff within traditional IT organizations. The individual will engage directly with newly signed customers to implement Proofpoint solutions at their sites.

The successful candidate will have strong technical experience and skills, combined with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. They must be able to take responsibility and accountability for successful customer engagements and partner technical relationships.

This is a highly technical role requiring:

  • Deep knowledge of Linux and Solaris operating systems
  • Strong understanding of network configuration
  • A solid background in email systems

Responsibilities also include working in complex product and infrastructure environments, troubleshooting and isolating issues, performance tuning and optimization, training customers, escalating defects, and driving resolution while managing customer relationships.

Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Engage with newly signed enterprise customers as a Proofpoint product expert to implement solutions, typically via remote web conferencing tools
  • Perform implementation activities including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customization, testing, and documentation
  • Deliver training to customers and partners
  • Provide technical expertise and real-world experience in creating solutions, designs, proof of concepts, and implementations
  • Drive high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Act as a strong customer advocate with Marketing and Engineering teams to improve products and ensure successful deployments
  • Coordinate with internal teams and customers to ensure timely resolution of technical issues and project completion
  • Define and document best practices, processes, templates, and architectures for use across the organization

What you bring to the team includes:

  • 5+ years of industry experience in a customer-facing technical role (professional services, sales engineering, or technical support)
  • Experience in large systems design and project implementation for enterprise email environments
  • UNIX system administration experience
  • Broad technical knowledge of Internet products and technologies
  • Strong understanding of Internet protocols (HTTP, SMTP, IMAP, RFC822, LDAP, PKI)
  • Knowledge of networking topology, TCP/IP protocols, and network components (firewalls, routers, etc.)
  • Strong Sendmail and messaging infrastructure administration experience
  • Ability to work across all organizational levels, both technically and politically

Pay within these ranges varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. The range provided may represent a candidate range and may not reflect the full range for an individual tenured employee. This role may be eligible for variable compensation and/or equity. Base Pay Ranges:

SF Bay Area, New York City Metro Area:

Base Pay Range: 111,300.00 - 174,900.00 USD

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC Metro Area, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Alaska:

Base Pay Range: 93,300.00 - 146,630.00 USD

All other cities and states excluding those listed above:

Base Pay Range: 83,600.00 - 131,340.00 USD
