Description:

Guardian Partners is a small nonprofit dedicated to training Volunteers to review existing adult guardianship cases throughout Oregon as appointed to us by county Probate Courts. Our goal is to ensure that adults living with disabilities are safe and treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Staff train Volunteers (Monitors) to interview Guardians, Professionals, meet in-person with the adult under guardianship and complete a report with resources, recommendations, or court intervention as needed.  Our program is a critical part of Guardian Partners` work preventing abuse and protecting adults with cognitive impairment, developmental disabilities, and the elderly.

Due to expansion, Guardian Partners is hiring full-time for a Southern Oregon Monitoring Specialist. As well as contributing to all aspects of the program, the Monitoring Specialist will take on volunteer recruitment within Southern Oregon, training and supervision of local volunteers, attend community outreach, recruitment and other events for community awareness, develop a Southern Oregon resource list, and will maintain a portfolio of their own cases to review.

This incredibly impactful and rewarding work is open for remote work and occasional travel to counties: Lane, Jackson, Josephine, Deschutes and Douglas (with more counties to be added with further expansion). Occasional travel to headquarter office in Portland. Ideal candidates may reside in either Deschutes, Douglas, Jackson or Josephine county. Guardian Partners' goal is to bring our education and our case monitoring program to every county in Oregon. 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Travel required.
  • Volunteer recruitment for Southern counties served. Community outreach with attending volunteer fairs, events and recruitment opportunities. Manage online recruitment portals.
  • Interview volunteers, complete federal/state required background checks, and classroom style training for volunteers.
  • Continual supervision of volunteers with monitored case reviews, case debriefings, coaching and consultation with volunteers, and editing of volunteer court reports.
  • Will maintain a portfolio of own monitor case reviews with a focus on volunteer shadowing for volunteers in training.
  • Will interview guardians, professionals, and meet in-person with adults under guardianship in the role of a monitor.
  • Will write reports for county Probate Courts.
  • Collaboration with local/community service providers.
  • Will develop a Southern County resource list utilized by volunteers designed for guardians and adults under guardianship.
  • Consistent volunteer continued education opportunities, socialization/events of appreciation.
  • Contribute to all aspects of the organization.
  • Flexibility with schedule, may be required to work evenings or weekends to accommodate volunteers.
  • Competence professional documentation, writing reports for court and accurate reporting.
  • Consult and report on guardianship cases to Monitor Program Manager weekly.
  • Track and report on data related to case monitor program.
  • Ensure the program is operating with best practices and Guardian Partners` Statement of Values in mind. 
  • Attend and support two annual fundraising events per year (in Multnomah County).

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Familiarity or comfort with investigating resources (social, legal, medical, government, etc) relevant to people living with cognitive disabilities and their guardians.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills- outgoing, self-starter.
  • Volunteer management a plus!
  • Comfort handling diverse inquiries and working with higher-needs clientele; advocacy work with vulnerable populations as well as sensitivity and compassion in working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • High-level organizational skills, quick thinking, multi-tasking.
  • Basic computer, IT skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom).
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Resourceful, positive attitude in problem-solving, balanced with judgment on when to escalate difficult situations.
  • Comfort collaborating as part of a small team, with a high focus on independent work.
  • Ability to successfully manage, acknowledge, support and coach volunteers, in-person and remotely.
  • Follow-through and follow-up on tasks, keeping relevant people informed.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Bilingual with ability to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently
