Are you someone with experience in the veterinary industry that is passionate about teaching clients how to help their pets live happy and healthy lives?

Are you a person that likes a fast-paced work environment that would include working with cats and dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments? And also not afraid to get their hands dirty with cleaning and organizing projects?

Do you enjoy working as part of a team that is serious about the pets and clients that we serve, but also can take a break to bond and enjoy time with your team members?

If so, you may be the person that we are looking for to fill our open position for Kennel Worker and Assistant at Animal Clinic of Rogue River!

About us:

At Animal Clinic of Rogue River, we pride ourselves on providing top-quality care for pets while creating a fun, supportive environment for our team! We are based in Rogue River, OR and are proud to be independently owned. Our clients are mostly local to the area and enjoy bringing our pets to our clinic.  They place a large amount of trust in us to take care of their dogs and cats.  We are known for taking our time with the individual client and being thorough to make sure they understand what is needed for their pet.

Here at Animal Clinic of Rogue River, our values guide our workplace environment and how we treat clients and their pets that they bring into our clinic.

We work as a team - no one stands alone to do a project.  We all pitch in and help where needed. We also see ourselves as a team member to the client to help make decisions for their pets.  We want to make sure the client is empowered to make the right decision for their pet, through caring guidance and communication.

We communicate with each other and clients, using various forms such as written, demonstration, and verbal based on how the individual communicates best.  We are not afraid to say it twice (or more) if needed. We also take the time to listen and observe, verbal or non-verbal to better understand what is going on with each other and the animals that grace our clinic.  This is the backbone of how we make it through our day, and we are always striving to do better.

Efficiency is so important in a small hospital.  We move at a fast pace, but are not rushed.  We have systems and procedures in place to help the day run smoother, and allow us to take more time with the clients. Efficiency allows us to feel more fulfilled in our actions and get through the day easier.

We are guided by our compassion for our work, our team-mates, our clients and our pets.  We treat everyone and every pet like they matter and their concerns are valid.  We all feel we have a calling to help animals, and also keeping in mind the clients needs and wishes for their pets.

About the role:

You will be the person in the clinic that is here to support everyone.  We are looking for someone who understands their place in the team, and can get their job duties done and also who is motivated to get the next job done.

Mainly you will be helping keep the clinic sparkly clean and inviting for the clients, but you will also be supporting the rest of the staff in their duties.  You will need to have a strong passion for animal care and educating clients. You will be expected to help clients get their pets into exam rooms, educate the clients on basic animal care and preventives, help keep pets clean in the hospital, monitor pets before and after procedures, discharge pets after surgical procedures back into the care of the client and assist the reception staff in answering phones.

You will be expected to be detail oriented in cleaning duties inside and outside of the clinic, and also when monitoring patients.  You will be filling medications and preparing samples to send the reference lab, so details are very important.

We often work in a very fast-paced environment, but this only works if we are all positive and keep in mind that we are doing this for the patients.  We also try to take much needed breaks when needed, so you will get time to reset.  We will want you to join us for the occasional lunch party, game night or work outing, as we see this building bonds between us.

Lastly, we are interested in hiring someone that can see themselves in the veterinary field long-term.  We would like to assist you in growing into a more technical role in the clinic at your own pace and when you are ready.  We want to give you the opportunity for continued learning and career development as you gain experience with clinic protocols and procedures.
We would like to invest in your future through specific training in a role that interests you in the field.
